I am currently interested in oxidizing caprylic (C8:0) in vitro in order to change its properties but i have not found any protocol to do so. Anyone who can help me out?
Ozone gas bubbled through the fatty acid should cause ample oxidation by directly providing reactive oxygen atoms. Given the toxicity and hardware need, hydrogen peroxide can be more feasible, which can be agitated to speed up oxidation and then, h202 can be removed via distillation.
