In recent decades, ownership of English has seen a shift away from native speaker to its users in any context. After the emergence of Kachruvian model and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), the traditional ownership claimed by natives has become irrelevant and now users from ESL, EFL and ELF context are claiming ownership over this language. This is a forthcoming stance. Natives are no more the custodians of language though they may have their concerns and insecurities.
The question here is, when it comes to English language and global sharing of ownership, most of us cheer it. However, if the same happened to other languages, how would their custodians feel? Will they show the same enthusiasm in sharing the ownership over their languages with other peoples? Don't we become biased then? Don't we show a different attitude here?
