II performed SNP analysis on a streptomyces species strain. The different strains were selected over several generations. However, only 20-25% of reads show an alternate allele. During SNP analysis of cancer cells, that would be normal because of the tumor heterogeneity. However, I did not expect that in streptomyces. Streptomyces do show mycelial growth, one possibility is that the cells never became single cells during selection leading to the heterogeneity. Is there any other explanation?
