I have been awarded with a research fund and is looking for suitable single cylinder research engine with optical access. The project concerns with turbocharged direct injection of gaseous fuel in SI engine. Also need with this DC/AC dyno with control, emission analyzer and laser equipment for in-cylinder flow visualization. Can you please suggest manufacturer/supplier for the complete system. Thank you

The work concerned in the project will be carried out by the Internal Combustion Engines Group of DIMSET (ICEG) which has more than 40 years of experience in the field of combustion, mechanical losses, engine part-load operation, turbocharging, intake and exhaust system design, exhaust emissions, engine control. In recent years the research activity of ICEG has been focused on different aspects related to automotive turbocharging systems (comparison of different matching options and turbine regulating devices, turbocharger control, correlation between steady and unsteady flow operation, etc).
Main Tasks:
In the proposal, UNIGE will be responsible for the following technical activities:
Extended measurement of steady flow performance characteristics of different turbocharging units for downsized SI engines using VVA.
Experimental definition of TC turbine unsteady flow performance.
Optimization of the exhaust system geometry, valve actuation strategy and waste-gate controlto increase the exhaust enthalpy during engine fast transient operation.
Analysis of compressor instability (surge) in presence of downstream unsteady flow and definition of suitable circuit design and valve actuation strategies.

Influence of EGR on Knocking in an HCCI Engine Using an Optically Accessible Engine SAE 2016-11-08 Technical Paper 2016-32-0012

Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the influence of cooled recirculated exhaust gas (EGR) on abnormal combustion in a Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine. The condition of abnormal HCCI combustion accompanied by cylinder pressure oscillations was photographed with a high-speed camera using a 2-stroke optically accessible engine that enabled visualization of the entire bore area. Exhaust gas was cooled with a water-cooled intercooler for introducing cooled EGR. Experiments were conducted in which the quantity of cooled EGR introduced was varied and a comparison was made of the autoignition behavior obtained under each condition in order to investigate the influence of cooled EGR on abnormal HCCI combustion. The results revealed that cylinder pressure oscillations were reduced when cooled EGR was introduced. That reduction was found to be mainly ascribable to the effect of cooled EGR on changing the ignition timing.
There was a recent paper by Mazda, they used, for studying flame propagation inside a Wankel RCE, a transparent rotor combustion surface, and a sighting device from the shaft up, but I can't locate the reference now
