Hi all,
I simulated an open ended probe (coaxial cable) monopole antenna in CST mws. It works (good return loss, Input impedance 50).
However, in HFSS, I designed the same dimension of structure with a radiation box which has edges size = lamda0/4.
A 50 ohms (Z0) input impedance is found, return loss is very poor (-3 dB).
I need a help to resolve the problem in HFSS

Can you explain how have you excited your Coax? Maybe there is a problem in your simulation setup.
For the Coax simulation with wave port you need to define the integration line from the outer metal of the coax to the inner metal. The wave port has be on the radiation box and not inside it. If you have to place it inside a radiation box you need to use a PEC cap at the port.
Thank you Mohammed. It works only when the excitation is aligned with -z box radiation limit.
For inside box, i received this message

The excitation is needed to be inside the box
Right click on the page and choose the "Select face" from drop down list. Select the circular face of your coaxial and define as a lumped port. I will attach a sample of wave port with a PEC cap as Mohammad suggested for your convenience.

What is your solution frequency? Is it 433MHz of 5.8GHz. We have HFSS v13.0 and the structure has been drawn in HFSS v15. When I try to open this file, it is found that solution frequency = 5.8.GHz. Please tell me your working frequency
The solution frequency is 433 MHz.
When i began the design of monopole antenna, the dimensions are set at 5.8 Ghz.
After that, i changed the pin length of coaxial cable in order to resonate @ 433 MHz.

In solution frequency, it 5.8GHz, plz change it and simulate your structure. As we have HFSS v13, we can not use your design (simulated using HFSS v15).
