Corona Virus makes teachers and students more care about online assessment via online exams. The big question is how to detect/prevent students that cheat in online exams?
it is indeed a good question that we all need to concentrate on. As per my digital experiences before we need to resolve this question, equally important is how competent our teachers and students are in terms of online skills. we need to make sure that both of them are enough competent to make the process an outcome oriented that we expect it to be, otherwise results can be disastrous (complete failure) and can even surpass cheating behavior of students.
In my opinion, it is practically impossible to control whether students copy unless direct communication is maintained through the mobile camera. What I consider essential is to ask questions for the evaluation that do not appear explicitly in the content, that makes the students think and not waste time looking for the information, having very well calculated the times necessary for the evaluation.
Thank you Juan Luis Cabanillas García for your answer. As you know, direct communication sometimes be so hard especially when the number of students very large.
Every city must have a center for online exams ...prepared with precautions and safety from corona infection, that means large buildingand the students distance between them. The student transformation from home to the center should be under health supervision. my idea about this came cause most of my students live in another city. The countries should take care of teaching, because students are the future
Division of students into smaller groups. One group per exam session.
Computer cameras showing simultaneously students in each group from above with the computer desks in front of them (just like in an exam room - the questor observes students on his/her screen from above).
