I am new to plasma chemistry and emission spectroscopy and I have been looking for a defintive answer to this question for a while now.
Firstly, do the lins have to be for one Ion or species? meaning is it wrong to add, let's say, Ar II to a set of lines that are all Ar I?
Secondly, I noticed that some pepole include h*c to the denomenator of ln(wavelength*intensity/A*gk), why?

Supposedly LTE is achieved, otherwise convenient plasma models must be used. But, the choice of the spectral lines remains the same. However, the ionization state determines the spectral lines to be used. First, you get a wide spectrum (e.g. from 200 nm to 900 nm, even near UV region if much ionized) and you identify the most prominent lines and the ionization stage(s) they belong. The obtained temperatures Te for neutral / lowly ionized species have to be compared. Good luck !
If you want to use neutral and ionic spectral lines in the same plot, use the Saha-Boltzmann plot method. But for this method you also have to determine electron density.

At NIST's database, it is published the parameters which permits you to calculate Te for Boltzmann or Saha-Boltzmann (more than one species) for selected emitted lines in your spectra. Good luck!
