Is it possible to identify oil components captured in the hydrogel without its recovery. If Yes, then which instrumental techniques we can use for the identification of oil components present in the hydrogel by simply crushing the hydrogel along with oil components and put under analysis. Or, we have to recover oil components from the hydrogel in order to identify which type of oil is captured inside the hydrogel.
XOS trace analyzers are telling. You have other types of oil and water analyzers to chose from. Sounds like this is what you are looking forward. I'd grab samples, centrifuge it, separate the good water and analzer the remaining contents. Good luck.

You can think to use some heavy liquids with high specific gravity as Zinc Chloride or Zinc Bromide, mix the hydrogel with it well and centrifuge it.

Well, the solution primarily depends on what type of hydrogel you are planning to use- insitu hydrogel or pre-cross-linked hydrogel. In the case of both, using rheological assessment is one way to establish that some heavier HCs have been captured and retained by the hydrogel.
Buts it's essential to remember that actual crude oil comprises of Carbon number of various orders. So my recommendation would be to use the gel for spill clean up, then separate the crude oil (any HS centrifuge will do the trick). Then, you can test the effluent for recovery efficiency and analyze the C numbers of the captured crude oil.
