Has anyone tried Oil Red O staining on cytosmear slides containing bronchoalveolar lavage fluid? What are the steps and also what fixative is used to fix the cells?
Resh Kr it might be you could find a solution for your problem reading:

(quote:) '....preparation of samples (cell suspensions) onto slides for lipid body staining can be done in two ways: using a cyto-centrifuge or by spreading a mixture of cells with melted agarose matrix onto a slide. .....' (End quote:)
But it might be really tricky to apply OilRedO to unfixed /fixed conventional cytosmears as they are used in histology / histopathology.
