Himalayan drainage system has entailed two large deltaic ecosystems, the Ganges Brahmaputra Meghna (GBM) delta on the east and the Indus deltaic system on the west of the Indian Peninsula. Both ecosystems are under serious stress; stress created by anthropocentric interventions.
