Okay, so, in my report for uni I have to explain the r^2 along with other things like the correlation and p-score for the correlation etc.
We hypothesised that non-verbal reasoning and emotional intelligence would both show a negative correlation with depression scores; results showed that EI did ( & p-score was 0.001) and NVR did not ( & p-score was 0.059) now if im not mistaken, this means I should reject the hypothesis that NVR shows a relationship with depression?
I also tested for Collinearity and the tolerance showed as .994, which, again, if i'm not mistaken, rules out the possibility that both of my predictors influence one another ?
But then, my r^2 shows at 0.481, i know this isn't necessarily high, but my question is, do i still assume that NVR accounts for some of this, or do I just assume its mostly EI since NVR shows no significant? Could it be possible for NVR to negatively impact my r^2?
This is my first time ever running this kind of stats so I'm sorry if i seem ridiculous .
