Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)

Many cases of HS are associated with NAFLD. The rate of NAFLD is higher in HS patients than that of healthy controls. What is /are the explanations behind it? Is HS the cause or the effect of NAFLD?
