I can create optical configurations (OC) on a Nikon A1R confocal running NIS Elements 4.0, but the time penalty to change between them is prohibitively long.
That is, it might take ~1s to scan an image (OC1 or 2), but it takes 7-10s to change between OC1 and OC2 (even if stipulating Zero Delay).
Has anyone else overcome this, it's killing me?

I have not used the product and I am sure you would have done this :
Objective and associated optics set and the corresponding settings in the software to reflect the data collection ?
I presume that the motors and associated assembly are software controlled .
From the manual : There is a that allows time lapse , closing shutter (granularity needs to be looked at ) .

Don't worry, it's a niche question: I think it's the fact that each time it changes optical configuration it is checking something else 'under the bonnet' and this takes the long time. I wondered if there was a work-around.
