It's just like a new strain of anything else. What properties are different and how do you deal with them ?

It is a slight mutation in the spike protein of the virus which has caused such a huge news. It was because of the high level molecular genomic labs in the UK that they could detect such a small mutation in the virus. It is a new variant which can be transmitted faster but the disease which it causes is the same. But the best part is that the vaccines which have been rolled out and have been circulated will be very much effective against this strain.

The new mutant strain of SARS-CoV-2, known as VUI–202012/0 is 70% more transmissible than the previously dominant strain. Children are more susceptible to this strain of SARS-CoV-2.

I Think we haven't completed our research on COVID-19 yet many aspects are to be studied. Its New Strain will take much time to be observed

Currently developing in some countries (in Europe and in some other parts of the world) the so-called the third wave of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic is caused by a new, mutated variant of the Coronavirus, characterized by an approx. 70 percent higher the level of contagion against the Coronavirus variant responsible for the 1st and 2nd wave of the pandemic. Despite the higher level of contagiousness, no significantly higher level of pathogenicity has been reported for causing Covid-19 disease. This is a situation similar to what was diagnosed in some countries in early fall 2020, when the original version of the coronavirus responsible for the first wave of the pandemic (February - April 2020) has been successively replaced by a new, more contagious variant of this virus. However, despite the lack of diagnosis of a significant increase in the pathogenicity of Covid-19 disease by new variants of the Coronavirus, however, worrying effects of deteriorating health have been detected in some people who have recovered from Covid-19 disease. Well, for example, disturbing changes in the tissues of the lungs and also some other internal organs were detected. Some people who have had mild or severe Covid-19 disease have been diagnosed with severe tissue changes in certain internal organs that can significantly impair their health and performance. However, it is to be hoped that the public vaccination programs starting now (January 2021) in many countries will bring the pandemic to an end by mid-2021 at the latest.

The genomic surveillance in the UK has been initiated to understand the scope of the spread of the new variant across the country. Well, scientists and infectious disease experts are still piecing together what they know about the new strain, called SARS-CoV-2 VUI 202012/01, which is shorthand for the first variant under investigation in December 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It hasn’t yet been detected in the U.S., but the CDC said it could already be circulating across the country unnoticed. Let's hope and pray the vaccination process would help all of us to control it as well.
