This week's blog post discusses a new article from our research team, about the reasons people do or don't exercise: https://sites.google.com/view/two-minds/blog We found support for the Two Minds Theory concept of temporal immediacy: That statements with a focus on the present were also more concrete and personal, while statements about the future or past were more abstract and distant from people's direct experiences. Future-focused reasons for exercising were consistent with the type of abstraction we would expect from the Narrative mind, while the Intuitive mind was more strongly seen in present-focused statements, which included a more balanced view about both the benefits and drawbacks of exercise in everyday life.
