No treatment is available to slow or stop the deterioration of brain cells in Alzheimer's disease. research world is progressing to generate AD drug targetting on amyloid beta protiens...other than gene therapy...
no treatment is available, but increasing number of researches into the area of brain stem cells(neural progenitors) can prove to be worthwhile in future.
In fact there is quite a lot of evidence that brain and cognitive reserves are slowing down progression of AD, and there may even be possibilities to reverse the early effects beta amyloid proteins (the evidence is from animal studies only). There could potentially be possibilities of combining early diagnosis (which would need to be established before irreversible damage by beta amyloid proteins) with tailor made cognitive interventions (but there again studies are in their infancy) would actually stop the progression and reverse the effects of beta amyloid proteins.
Paper concerning blueberry juice was written by ROBERT KRIKORIAN, 2010,title: Blueberry Supplementation Improves Memory in Older Adults.
How they got the idea to check it? ^^
Seriously, simple study: analyze of juice, day absorption of 1/2L of juice per day during 12 weeks and then evaluation of memory task in patient confer neurocognitive benefit to blueberry juice.
Concerning other research you should try to hit your keywords in pubmed.
