First of all, based on what you said, it seems to me that you might have two unrelated parts in your manuscript. Consider dividing it into two. One paper should tell one rounded up story. It is not the point in putting as much data as possible if those data are not mutually related.

We all think that we "perfectly designed" our projects. You would not believe how often and with what ease reviewers convince us otherwise :)

it is quite clear to me why Journal of ethnopharmacology and Journal of Horticulture and Biotechnology said that your paper is out of their scope. Why would they publish anything related to material science? As for the third answer, get used to the fact that the first obstacle you need to overcome is to convince editor that your paper is interesting enough to be sent to reviewers. The higher IF, the more rigorous selection procedure would be. And yes, even when your paper is rejected without even being sent for revision, it could take time. Thats why you should chose journal wisely and not overestimate your work if you are not willing to wait. Sometimes it is more safe to go with less famous journal, with modest impact factor, especially if you do not offer something really new and unique. You yourself said that there are a lot of papers on H. indicus antioxidant activity. If majority of your work is something known (no matter that you examined different samples), you better forget high profile journals. If you are in the rush, you could try sending phytochemical part of your work to Natural product communications or Biosystematics and ecology. But you always have to adapt your work to fit scope of the journal. Do not just reformat your work. Use Introduction and abstract to emphasis importance of your aims and results for that specific journal.

In theory, it is not important where you are coming from. You can publish good paper pretty much anywhere (without paying a cent) if you did good work with high level of novelty and obtained interesting results relevant to the field. Nonetheless, your work will most probably be "examined" in more detail and with higher level of criticism (especially in the case of high profile journals) if you come from non-famous university and from group that is not considered to be one of the top in the field. In other words, you will have to prove your self harder.

All in all, try to objectively estimate your paper. If you are convinced it is novel enough for high IF journal and that biochemical and material science parts are related in a logical way, just be patient and continue trying. If, on the other hand, you think anything of what I said is applicable on your paper, try amending it and lower your bar a bit.

Thank you for wise reply, I really appreciate it. As i am in my first publication i was very happy about the way that my research work went. Yes I did understand the combination of biochemical and material science was the minus point in the initial rejection in Journal of ethnopharmacology and Journal of Horticulture and Biotechnology. But when it comes to Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers yes there are papers combination with both streams, i use them as the reference and made the paper in logical and novel-way. I have put my paper now in anther journal adjusting the abstract and introduction according to the scope. I am waiting to hear from them. My problem was Journals takes so long to reply the initial suggestions that the issue.

I have mentioned clearly Even though there are lot on papers on H. indicus antioxidant analysis the results of antioxidant activities in my research was highly different as i said due to geographical location, altitude and so many factors. I would like to make my point Both antioxidant analysis (biochemical test) and Green synthesis of nano particles (Material science) very much mutually related, if not i would have not made them together. There are so many papers upcoming related to both fields.

I have published 10 papers so far. Just like you I also aim for high ranked journals but it is not like stepping to the farther step is easy. I made my ways, learn through failures and rejections started myself from smaller ones corrected and amended thru their suggestions and then modified and uplifted my skills. I suggest the same to you.

If your work is novel then your prime focus should be publishing it ASAP rather looking for a bug gun to do it without testifying it critically.

I suggest phytotheray, JNP, Journal of herbal medicines, BMC compliment altern med etc are good.

Besides you can ask for fee waivers too. They offer it for lower middle income countries.

As much as my understanding, Journal: Food & Function (RSC, IF >3.2 and free of charges) may be suitable for your research.

In my opinion, the failures are too normal! Doing the research and publish need some luck! Be confident! Herein, I just give you some suggestion: First, you maybe need to check carefully the aims & scopes of the target Journal before the submission. Secondly, if you have a good research team, then just discuss and decide.

If not, if you have time, just revise the research content (include writing) and lower target of submission

If you think your paper has some novel findings then You may try to Applied Nano science (IF>3) or Journal of Nanoparticle research (IF=2). I even saw similar work in Environmental Chemistry Letters (IF=4.6). All the best.
