hello every one i need your kind suggestion about maize and alfalfa intercropping system. i cultivated to crops maize and alfalfa in sole and inter cropped system and applied 15N now i am extremely confused what parameters i should study i need your kind suggestions thank you
In a crop the growth parameters i.e. CGR (crop growth ratio), RGR, NAR and LAI have been identified as the major determinants of yield. A combination of these parameters clarify different yields better than any individual growth variable (Liu and Wiatrak, 2011). So these growth indices were used at research. What is the research question you are trying to investigate?
You have mentioned that 15N labelled fertilizer was applied. It seems to me that you are trying to investigate some aspects of Nitrogen use efficiency in monocrops and intercrops?
Knowing the objectives of your research project may be helpful to decide what parameters you need to measure.

In agreement with Dr Jayasundara ... you have to set precise objectives to then decide on the parameters to be measured
Alfalfa will help with the nitrogen input in your system, so you would probably woldný need to add more, but with your results you´ll see how much of the nitrogen you add was actually used by the plants and how much was lost on the soil, that´s another thing you can measure, but everything depends on your research question.
Is a good combination. With N-15 you can obtain data abaout Biological Nitrogen Fixation in alfalfa
