I am looking for an illustrated paper, showing a cross-section view of a Myliobatiformes tooth with indicating the characteristic tissue-types. I there any paper out there in this topic?
There are several good publications out there showing the tooth histology of batoids. Herman published several manuscripts where he was providing drawings of the tooth histology of different batoid groups.
Radinsky 1961 is also a great work on tooth histology in general and he was depicting teeth of Myliobatis there. [Tooth histology as a taxonomic criterion for cartilaginous fishes]
Although he focused on the enameloid structure, Hoffman et al. 2018 also showed the dentine structure in Myledaphus (Dental structure of the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) guitarfish (Neoselachii: Batoidea) Myledaphus pustulosus from the Hell Creek Formation of Garfield County, Montana).
There is another nice publication of Adnet et al. 2018 showing ct-images and cross sections of Pastinachus (Teeth, fossil record and evolutionary history of thecowtail stingray Pastinachus Rüppell, 1829).
I also CT-scanned several teeth and tooth plates (unpublished yet) if you need further information.
I hope this helps. If you need help with the Herman papers, feel free to write me a message.
Dear Patrick! Thank you for your answer! I am basically looking for something like the one attached below. For further modification, which would be used in an own paper. I was simply unable to find where is this from, I randomly found it on google. Do You maybe know about something similar? Sincerely; Márton
Reach out to researchers or experts in the field of ichthyology, comparative anatomy, or paleontology who might have worked on similar topics. They could potentially provide you with information about specific papers or illustrations.
or Look for online databases that specialize in biological images or scientific illustrations. Websites like BioImages (bioimages.vanderbilt.edu) or MorphoBank (morphobank.org) might have cross-sectional images of Myliobatiformes teeth.
