Yes, the chances of rejection have definitely increased in the bag held back by the editor. You must write back to ensure it gets a proper review and you receive a detailed review report. The red flag is when editors do not reply to your request for an update. If you first confirm it is s not an administrative glitch by contacting the publisher (usually also contactable) JJust write a nice polite letter and ask for the detailed referee/review reports.
Paul Stock Amit Mittal i send in 13 August a polite letter asking the editor in chief for the detailed status, but there is no reply up to now. How long time should i wait to get the answer? And how long time should i wait to send another request?
No @Samia but it is likely the editor cannot 'decide on' / divine your subject of research and it has been binned given the pressures on the editors to follow timelines and complete triage.
I have not received a desk rejection but Samia Samia I am saying his inability to deal with it will force his hand (an unlikely but unavoidable scenario, increasing the chances of an unseen or unverified disposal) you can only assess the final quality of the decision from the review report you do receive and you can then make out the difference between a good or bad review report and its use to you in getting through any rewrites before publishing. As of now the editor is stuck and all outcomes are possible.
