My DSC Device uses heat flow in μV in order to calculate enthalpy ,entropy and Gibbs free energy, it must be in joules to convert that and multiply it by current amp. My device can not give such option, what are my alternatives besides using Ammeter to calculate the output current from converter?
Calibrate your DSC by the measurement of melting enthalpy of standard materials such as In, Sn Pb, Zn, as well as temperature.
Dear Professor . Nobuyoshi , I am dealing with shape memory Alloys in this case ,Your thought is interesting but for the sake of Argument How can a standard Metal do the job Also for SMA. ? there are deferent Aspects I Suppose ?
For a DSC the measured temperature difference (internally measured as a voltage) is always proportional to the heat flow rate difference between sample and reference sample in mW. A heat of transition (either from a unknown sample or from a calibration substance) becomes visible as a peak in the measured curve. The area of this peak is proportional to the heat produced or absorbed. Because of this it is possible to calibrate the output signal with any well known heat of transition as Prof. Nobuyoshi suggest. It does not matter whether the sample is a metal for calibration or SMA to be tested.
