I think you might want to look for a more critical realist approach to it. I think your variable-hypermasculinity- is a social construction and hence context specific. It would be very hard to come up with a universal model that measured such a fluid concept
Since culture is very context-specific, I wonder how a multicultural scale to any measurement would be approached? I think that a stereotype-based analysis (as mental schemata that group characteristics of certain cultures) might aid you to come up with observed common characteristics. I' d also recommend reading some feminist research which tackles, and juxtaposes, masculinity and femininity (Cameron 2018, Harvey 2019)
