chemistry is one of an interesting science in the world. but in most developing country student is nit prefer to learn chemistry. i mention the most two cases: in developing country mostly no laboratory accumulation, and there is no reference materials and so on.
I believe the main challenge is to attract the attention of the students. In today's world it seems that they are more interested in practical applications. As chemistry is in almost everything, tries to bring practical situations and then comments on the chemistry behind the phenomena. This is the strategy I have been using with my students at the University.
I feel Chemistry has something different than other natural sciences. It is not that all portions is not attractive but most of the students feel inorganic and metallurgy part somewhat difficult.
This is mainly due to the way we represent it to the students. If we can use simultaneously and other interactive way it may help in growing interest of the students
I think Merga already shows the answer in her question. Todays students' attention need to be captured. Lab facilities are excellent in doing that, e.g. with a CS Phosphorus flame (Phosporus dissolved in CS on a paper, CS evaporates, paper catches flame) or more elaborate chemical reactions. Lacking such facilities takes more inventive approaches to capture their attention.
