How to implement MPC running from matlab to control power distribution system running in another software interfaced with matlab. I mean is the SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION the best option to have your dynamic model into MPC or there are better ways to do it. It is all about the integration of the MPC and the MODEL

Generally System Identification is fine for the purpose just be sure about no time delay between matlab-third software , third software-distribution system. but You may have some problems after linearization of your model by MPC toolbox.
In simulation, if your dynamic model parameters is fixed during the process, and you know the values of all the model parameters, so, I think there is no need for the system identification. Just define your plant model in a state-space representation, and use the MPC toolbox in Simulink, or the code "mpc" in m-file.
