Augustus in his "Res Gestae" recounted his military successes as well as his benevolences , likely inspired by the "Sacred History" of Euhemerus. The Gospel of Mark lists Jesus's victories over spiritual entities and his acts of healings and kindnesses. Both, it could be argued, point to the apotheosis of the person being described. So is there a plausible connection, especially since Mark is often thought to be addressed to an audience in Rome?
