Can anyone please suggest some references? I would like to simulate scattering of a fundamental mode of a fiber by a microsphere. I am only familiar with a plane wave case, but in case of a curved wavefront, vector spherical harmonics and associated coefficients will likely be different. So far, I have found a paper on scattering of arbitrary Gaussian beams by spheroids.

You may be able to decompose the curved gaussian wave into its plane wave spectrum, scatter the plane waves, the sum the result.

I have applied MIE theory to scattering from a cylindrical object due to plane wave illumination. I have solved it numerically as well using spectral element method. I also numerically solved Bessel beam illumination. Go over my two papers. If you need the numerical solution, I can do it.

I think the curved wavefront can be treated as spherical wavefronts. You can have a look at [1 p. 183].
