The project theme is very interesting and I would like to learn the ionization process which takes place when the high energetic particles (electron/proton) enter to our inner magnetosphere-ionosphere-atmosphere system. I am doing the link between this ionization process and atmospheric electric field changes over south polar stations, so that either this ionization creates a localized capacitor system at middle atmosphere or what kind of changes been expected.?

Dear colleague, your question is very broad; therefore you ought to determine for yourself what kind of the precipitations are important for you between the following items:
- What kind of experimental data you are going to analyze (radio wave propagation under the ionosphere and in the ionosphere, riometer data, satellite data, balloon measurements and ets.).
- At what kind of particle precipitation are you interested in?
- What kind of energy range of the particles are interesting for you (aurorlal electrons (1 eV – 300 KeV), relativistic electrons (> 300 KeV), relativistic high-energy electrons (1 MeV – several tens of MeV, ultraenergetic relativistic electrons (100 Mev – several hundreds of MeV), cosmic rays).
- What kind of latitude range of the particle precipitations is interesting for you (middle latitudes, subauroral zone, auroral zone, polar cap).
- What kind of a particle source is interesting for you (cosmos, the Sun, magnetosphere).

1. I am interested in the solar Proton Event (SPE) and its associated changes on Earth lower atmosphere (especially D and C region) over the polar cap (magnetic latitude 80-89 S).
2. What kind of ionization pattern\cluster may be created when the high energetic proton (> 10 MeV) precipitated on the polar cap ionosphere?

Jeny Victor, good evening. I am answering at your 2 questions:
1. I do not have an answer on a question how the fluxes of SCR (solar cosmic rays) above the polar cap differ from the ones over the auroal zone. But I know that according to the VLF propagation data the effective height of the corresponding waveguide for the auroral zone is not less than 45 km. At the one of the most powerful SCR on 29 September 1989 this height was 50 km. Corresponding publications you may find on my ResearchGate page.
2. I do not see any difference in ionization patterns in the polar cap zone and the auroral zone. The difference may be, first of all, due to the density of fluxes. The equatorial boundaries of the precipitating protons due to the geomagnetic cutoff effect are known (according to the satellite data).

Suppose, as per Reg. cutoff, proton energies more than 10 MeV make substantial ionization over polar cap lower ionosphere, while the higher energies may propagate to lower latitudes mostly, as you mentioned, auroral zone. In case, both auroral and polar cap ionization are similar, can we apply same ideology of auroral zone to polar cap ? , Since I am quite new to the field my questions may be very basic, please give your suggestions.
