I know this is a long shot but I am trying to microencapsulate a PCM containing a mixture of an alcohol and fatty acid ester and have currently only found in-situ polymerisation using the following surfactants: styrene maleic anhydride copolymer or sodium styrene maleic acid colpolymer as potential ways of doing this (the alcohol group makes microencapsulation a lot more difficult). If anyone has any other possible suggestions of surfactants or microencapsulation methods let me know!
Try Aminoplast microencapsulation or modifying the aqueous phase to counteract the interaction parameters or alternatively, modify the oil phase by using an oil soluble polymer to counteract the interactions.
I know I'm following your long shot with another, but have you looked into alginate-chitosan micro-capsulation granules?

the encapsulation will work - the biggest issue you will face is the cycling from hot to cold I.e. Freezing and cooling of the core the volume expansion can cause the shell to crumple and split.
