Conflict zones, which are eminently warlike of any kind, are areas in which their inhabitants are subjected to a high level of physical, psychological and social stress (scarcity, hunger, difficulties sleeping and resting, little or no health care in both cases chronic as acute, fear and even panic to be injured, mutilated or killed ... without entering into the fear of rape and sexual abuse, kidnapping and a long etcetera that reminds us of Hobbes's phrase: "man is a wolf for man ") on stress for which, in addition, the civilian population is not prepared, for this reason they are the scapegoat who suffer the overwhelming euphemism of" collateral victims ", when they are not the real target of bombings, massacres and rapes using the TERROR as a psychological weapon to reduce the "enemy's morale" (in fact, in World War II there were more civilian victims than military ones).

In such a scenario, Mental Health is seriously damaged and any type of Psychopathology may appear, although Post Traumatic Stress Disorders are the Mental Health Problems with the highest incidence.

The combatants, despite their specific training, also suffer from many Disorders of this type: remember that the concept that gave rise to PTSD was precisely that of "War Neurosis". I do not want to sound petulant, but I know something directly because I am a Military (of the Navy) and a Mental Health Specialist, having lived several combats and been in many conflict zones and, therefore, having seen unimaginable things because the cinema and the art only imitate reality.

The rehabilitation Centre in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, cares for tortured war victims and is the place from where you can get good information. Some of the cruel methods like scaring the victims feet follow the tortured person the whole life for every step he/she takes.

Ask if they have any experience of Machine learning (ML) and what kind of new ways for early diagnosis of mental health., such ML could open??

PTSD Haunts Bosnian War Survivors

More than 1,750,000 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina may suffer from symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, PTSD, a study concludes.Dr Nemana Mehic – Basara, who presented the results in the Bosnian capital, said that most of the people who were surveyed were between 31 and 50 years old, and were over 18 during the war, the Fena news agency reported. Approximately 47 per cent of respondents were men.

The symptoms of those surveyed included anxiety and sleep disorder.

This does not appear to be a very new area as evaluations and assessments of mental health disorders is fairly commonly used

I have been thinking about it for a while now, as I myself happen to be from war like zone, Kashmir.

The only question I have is what kind of data should we use for the detection/prediction of the issue.

May be ones browsing history which is a very big domain to find its relationships with depression, and if there is any relationship of Depression with blood pressure, pulse rate etc ( this data can be collected by a fitbit watch or something of such sort) then we can easily do so.

And I think a general solution might help here (not just for war zones)

It's impossible to put into words the mental anguish you see when you visit a battle zone and meet people who have been impacted by violence or war. You could believe things can't get much worse. Then you go on to another conflict scenario, which is much worse, a different type of torment.

People in conflict zones urgently require medical attention and care. Their illnesses frequently make it difficult for them to function, so getting help isn't just about improving their mental health; it may also be a matter of life and death.

The mental health problem affecting children in conflict zones is massive, yet governments lack the resources to address it.
