Dear All, All those who are facing this problem, I found the reason why mendeley plugin disappeared in my word and how to resolve it. I hope in future, the researcher will found this useful.
1-Whenever any plugin disappears, you can go to Microsoft office file--> Options--> Plugins--> You will find that plugin is disabled. Enable it, It will appear in references.
2-Secondly why this happens. In my case I installed MS office 365 and Office 2016 in the same system which auto disabled the mendeley. However whatever is the reason just follow point-one it will appear again. No need to uninstall and install again

hello muhammad, i am using mendeley to cite reference list in word but suddently the reference list disappeared despite numbering is continued for new citations but no list at the end of the file
I've got this problem too and I fix it by the instruction of Mendeley help center. Remove and reinstall the MS Word plugin from mendeley. If it doesn't work reinstall the latest upgrade of mendeley. it will be OK definitely.
For me to get it working I had to select "template' instead of 'actions' in your Step 2. Also, I had to then remove the template path (keep empty) and check the box for the Mendeley template below.
Btw, the usual path for the template seems to be C:\Users\Frieder\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

I have a similar problem but I have the Mendeley toolbar but am missing the insert citation option. I have it on one of my documents but the one im actually using does not have the option.
Dears, The problem I am facing is slightly different. The Mendeley plug-in is visible on the References Ribbon, but, the "Insert Citation" button is missing! This is very strange and I am unable to fix this and will appreciate if anyone may help in this regard.
Hi guys, I have a similar problem. The "cite" button in the desktop app (not Word!) is missing. Thus, I cannot select any documents in the desktop app and cite them from there. I alraedy re-installed the app but the problem remains. Any ideas?
Patrick Lübbecke to bring the cite option on your desktop mendeley you need to go from word file to your desktop. I hope you will find this video useful. Thank you.
Tianna Twyman Rizwan Khan Perhaps a bit late, but for future reference. I had the same problem, the "Insert citation" button was missing. The solution was to allow macros in Word. It's trivial, but it took me an hour to think of it (after I reinstalled both citation plugin and Medeley to no effect...).
