I thought that it would be possible to gather as much data on the occurrence of different types of biological groups and calculate a large matrix of different species' co-occurrence. We can chose from this matrix the columns and rows of species that are observed in a single ecosystem. The average value of the resulting table will be an indicator of stability of the system. I need help in collecting the data of species' occurrence and calculation the matrix.
The ecological footprint is a measure of the resources necessary to sustain individual or population for survival. It is used as a measure of sustainability, though evidence suggests that it falls short.
In other words evaluating trophic relationships and relative abundance of prey and predator species is a starting point for this evaluation.

Relationship of species isn't only predator-prey relationships. And my model isn't deterministic, but stochastic. I want to summarize the possible combinations of species in the communities and to identify more stable combination (most frequent). Possible combinations include species more occur together.
I would look for network modelling softwares. The question to be answered is: species are randomly/eventually showing up togheter or they are part of some process that it is not uderstood yet? The same approach is used for understanding human pattterns of relationship, infectious diseases spreading patterns, political dynamics in social groups...But you will need a network of thrusty informants: parabotanics, hunters...Indigenous people are the best, as they do this "zoning using guilds of species and relationships" as a way to select places for different objectives - sustainability or at least best resource and energy alocation when building a house, hunting, fishing, raising crops. All local knowledge available to compile a robust database over space and time is welcomed for such enterprise.
