Yes, you are right, disruptive innovation and radical innovation are in principle two different but quite similar kinds/concepts of innovation. Currently we are doing a thorough case study in the biotechnology sector strongly indicating a reflective character of both approaches resp. a relationship in that sense. I could provide the working paper when we are ready.
Many thanks Heng! I have this paper for a while now. But unfortunately it does not give any answer to measure the disruptive capabilities of an organization that may act as a source of disruptive innovations.

could be of interest for you. We (Research Group "Innovationexcellence", University of Applied Sience and Arts, Dortmund, Germany) are currently developing and testing a measurement approach with respect to some of the ideas presented in this work (but this is still work in progress),
I have benefited of Teece´s Dynamic Capabilities in that context a lot although it is in some respect difficult to integrate that thoughts due to the dynamic charakter of the concept. However, quite helpful and inspiring as well has been Subramaniam, M./Youndt, M. A. (2005): The Influence of Intellectual Capital on the Types of Innovative Capabilities, in: Academy of Management Journal, Vol. 48, 2005, No. 3, S. 450 – 463, but I could imagine that you are familar with that paper too.
Thanks again Axel for the reply, I didn't have this paper. The concept of Disruptive innovation, in my opinion, is to some extent different from the Radical one and dynamic capabilities some how (if not completely) support this concept. Do you think the 3 item construct of Radical Innovation used in this paper, is reflective of the concept "disruptive innovation capabilities"?, as apparently the capabilities for disruptive innovation should include sensing the market (potential new entrants, new/upcoming technologies), conceptualizing the innovations etc.

There are measures and metrics for assessing effectiveness in applying advanced technologies in products.
I believe the measures of disruptive management should be a subset of those measures or may be some variation of those. Disruptive innovations are those, which are identified to disrupt the competitors' business models. This is due to the fact that some innovations do often outdate or outweigh the existing offerings (in terms of their pertinent qualities and features) of the products on which the business is often founded.
The following paper may provide some insights into those measures. Take a look. Thanks.
