The conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells of a thin film made from Cadmium Telluride, CdTe ranged between 11% and 12% unlike the efficiency of mono-crystalline silicon PV module which ranged between 14% and 20%.
The theoretical conversion efficiency of CdTe thin-film solar cells is between 28%–30%. The laboratary-scale conversion efficiency of CdTe thin-film solar cell is 20.4% as at year 2014.
