I am interested to know about field methods of mass trapping the American cockroach, Would like to know kinds of traps that were most successful, types of baits and attractants, etc. Am also interested to know of methods for trapping German cockroach, although am mainly interested in the American cockroach.
Mass trapping of roaches, would be nice if this works! Up to now, roach traps are not very effective und mainly used for monitoing. Bait is not very important, these traps would even work without bait. Typical attractant would be Methylcyclopentendion. Best trap for Periplaneta a. is the Black Flag Roach Motel (in my opinion). Meanwhile the use of aggregation pheromones is being tested ( extraction of roach poop) but as far as I know, no product commercially available.
