This is a case of a 37-year-old young healthy male who was injured in a high-speed skiing accident in Austria. He sustained a displaced spiral compound fracture of his right tibial shaft and fibula. He was treated in Austria with plate and 15 screws. After the surgery, there was some mild peroneal nerve palsy. His was very motivated and made maximum effort during daily rehabilitation.

He was given clearance to begin full weightbearing after more than three months post OP. He had minimal pain and walked with a limp. On a control follow-up 15 weeks post OP valgus deformity of the tibia (13 degrees) was seen.

He was scheduled for another surgery 4 months after the primary fracture in Slovenia, the plate and screws were removed and IM nail was inserted after gently drilling the medullary canal. A single site of delayed-union was noted and packed with spongious bone.

Please, see the attached image. I am looking forward to your comments! What do you think about the first surgery and the choice of OSM in Austria? How long should the patient wait before any or full weightbearing after IM nail was inserted?
