This is an interesting question. It would be my guess that it would be hard for a triplet pregnancy to fit the definition of "low risk" and therefore not be eligible for a home birth. You would have to find a midwife competent to support the triplet birth while if it was considered low risk, which would be rare based on the prevalence of triplets to begin with, a mom who wanted to have a home birth, and that birth to not end up being risked out or in a transfer. Of these very few people, they would then want it recorded and posted! Pretty small n!

Triplet births are for numerous reasons (fetal and maternal) high risk events and shouldn't be performed at home. So please don't do it.  

I have read about a woman in Congo, who gave birth to three triplets, all in different places on her way walking to the hospital, and they all survived.However, that

was not exactly a home birth.

Anyhow, triplets should be delivered in hospital due to the high risks for mother and child.

The exceptions to vaginal delivery include the following:

Presenting triplet in breech position

Conjoined twin anatomy

Most cases of mono-amniotic twins

Signs of fetal distress or an abnormality that warrants abdominal delivery

Higher order births

In my country, cesarean delivery is planned for higher order births

Although the frequency of multiple gestations is lower than singleton gestations, multiple gestations account for a disproportionate share of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Much of this can be attributed to a higher rate of preterm delivery for multiple gestations. The mean gestational age at delivery is 35 weeks for twins, 32 weeks for triplets and 29 weeks for quadruplets. As a result, 25% of twins and 75% of triplets require admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Neurologic outcomes also appear to be worse in multiple births. When matched for gestational age at delivery, infants born from multifetal pregnancies have an approximately 3-fold increase in cerebral palsy (see the Gestational Age from Estimated Date of Delivery calculator). There is an approximate fivefold increased risk of stillbirth and sevenfold increased risk of neonatal death.

Monochorionic gestations are at risk for twin twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) which can occur about 15% of monochorionic pregnancies. TTTS is thought to be caused by vascular anastomoses within the placenta causing one twin to become underperfused (the "donor" twin) and the other twin to show signs of overperfusion (the "recipient" twin). Pregnancies complicated by TTTS are at significantly increased risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Maternal morbidity is also increased in a multifetal gestation. Women with multiples are more likely to be hospitalized with complications including preterm labor, preterm premature rupture of membranes, preeclampsia, placental abruption, pulmonary embolism, and postpartum hemorrhage. As a result, hospital costs are higher in these pregnancies.

Dear Astrit Gashi,  I supported a triplet pregnancy to term by enabling her to have adequate daily protein and micronutrient intake.   The triplets were born at 38 weeks, all three weighed over 2100 kg.     The first one was head down.  This was a good opportunity to deliver vaginally, but it was not taken advantage of unfortunately.  Everything you wrote is true, but does not apply to this case.

It seems you personally have not experienced a triplet birth that went to term, but as I wrote above, I have.  If you want to learn how, you must follow the woman closely to make sure she eats enough protein and triplets go to term.   150 grams of daily  protein have only 600 calories.   So the woman is not gaining weight.  The babies are getting what they need and as I wrote above, with nutritional assistance, triplets go to term.    One thing one learns immediately in obstetrics is not to use the word Never.   Right?
