Good day All,

I am looking for an academic mentor. Someone to help guide me in academia particularly writing academic papers.

About me

After 19 years in the petroleum industry, mostly geology related, my contract was terminated in 2015 as a result of oil price drop in 2014. I moved to Thailand, where I have a house and started teaching in 2016 at a university here. I am in the Management Faculty. I am expecting to complete my doctorate (Management - Decision Making) around the end of January 2018 and submit around the same time. My interest is in human resources - hiring, on-boarding, and firing of foreigners after working in six countries. Also, I am interested in evaluating the effectiveness of teaching. As I have taught at companies and academic world.

I have written two papers rejected so far. Both papers were praised for the idea and relevance but the common point was it was not academic enough (grounded in theory). Another comment is that my writing is not clear enough. Perhaps because I wrote sports for the newspapers so journalist not academic. So I would like someone to help me write and sound academic. Preferably qualitative.

Another thing is a I would like with someone about teaching and delivering better lectures to my students. I do some interesting reviews of my classes and have a significant data on them for more papers.

About you

Someone who has worked in academia for at least 10 years at various universities including Asia and have been published in several recognized journals in HR and or Education. You have time to chat in English via Zoom, Skype or so once a month and or look over some of what I and suggest improvement. Perhaps even work on papers together. Basically someone to help guide me and establish myself in the academic world.

I enjoy research and teaching at university but need some guidance. However where I am at in Thailand I do not seen to connect with anyone who can help (everyone is busy). Perhaps chatting with someone will help me refine what I want.

Attached is the abstract of a paper I had rejected. Perhaps I am not choosing journals well but some guidance would be nice.

Thanks for any directions.

Mario
