You are absolutely right. I am not particularly familiar with the South African context, but generally SMEs in the hospitality industry are not particularly active in the environmental field. However there are some nice exceptions. Particularly I have seen some boutique hotels/very small hotels using environmental issues as a relevant part of its business strategies (e.g. most of the few hotels using the European Union Eco-Label in the hospitality industry are small hotels) .
