Let me get this straight. You want to find out which companies were listed (Main board only, NOT Ace) in Bursa in 2009, 2010, and 2011? Without access to an IPO database, I can suggest the following:

Get the historical data from BSP, which by default begins at 1994. If you can script/code, you can automate your search the following way:

1. Extract the first trading date of each counter and append the file name to next column.

2. Loop/repeat for all .csv files.

3. Once finished, filter the date column according to your desired range (2009-2011 in this case).

If the above is not possible, you can simply check each file manually and see if it first traded between 2009 and 2011. It will be tedious but can be done in 5-6 hours.

Dominic Khie Yeen Hu have you tried the Thomson Reuters Datastream terminal? most universities would have at least 3 terminals where you can collect data on the PLCs of Bursa Malaysia - Main Board, ACE market and LEAP market as well. The industries are not specified on the Bursa Malaysia website but on Thomson Reuters Datastream, the PLCs are segregated across the industries. In your study you might want to define what is your industry that you would like to research on, that is you may define the companies that should be included in the industry under study.

For example, if you want to study the oil and gas industry, within Thomson Reuters the oil and gas companies are segregated under the heading of OIL AND GAS but you need to know that Petronas Chemical Berhad is listed under CHEMICALS and Petronas Dagangan Berhad is listed under TRADING and Petronas Gas Berhad is listed under GAS and Destini Berhad which is a major oil and gas player is listed under AEROSPACE.
