I wonder: is it usual for scholars working on, for example, Spanish, to publish their results in both Spanish and English? Or would that fall under the rubric of self-plagiarism? Of course, you would inform the editor of the journal about the fact that you have published it in language X or Y before.
I have another problem which may fall under the same idea: I try to publish in English research on Arabic linguistics and sociolinguistics, but most journals do not accept to publish it. They alwys say we have a fund shortage, but I think that it is because my written english does not meetr their standards. The real problem is that i need to publish in well-known journals to reach the level of "professor" in linguistics.

what is funny is that I am a peer-reviewer for four national journals in the social sciences and Linguistics in Algeria. I even peer-reviewed a paper in the social sciences for the Science Publishing Group (Science PG) of the US. But when it comes to my own papers, they are rejected. What a surprise!!!
Many journals forbid to republish the same work in another language (e.g. if you originally wrote it in Spanish, you cannot publish it again in another journal in English or the other way round). You should certainly check what your target journal allows. Of course, you may still translate a few sentences from your own work, but also check what the target journal allows (e.g. 100 words in a row or 700 words in total per article if you cite the original article).
