Limed juice heat exchanger pipes are almost completely closed by scale in 15-20 days and the scale is very tough. What should be checked first?
I would suggest the following:
1) verify what the scale is
is it only due to the 'limed juice" or is there a component being picked up in the process somewhere else and it is affecting the rate of scaling
2) verify the material specification of the components
Are the components themselves reacting with the fluid?
3) verify the designed conditions used for the component specification
4) verify the operational conditions utilized in the process
Are the components being utilized as intended?
Is the process operating under the design conditions? If not, how much deviation is there?
5) Determine what the conditions are that promote or accelerate scaling in the fluid
I would think that once you have answered those questions, you would have a very good idea as to where to go next.
