I want to optimize the parameters of mass spectrometer(MS), so I want to use RSM to find optimum.
1. I have 4 factors(Heated block Temp., Desolvation line Temp., nebulizing gas flow rate, and drying gas flow rate.). When I want to choose the level, I found parameter can have many values (like Temp. has infinite value that I can set in MS).
2. Is it suitable that I choose RSM as a method to find optimum value as question 1 mentioned?
Can someone help me to deal with these confusions?

In order to really give solution to your questions , i need to know what kind of RSM design did you used. Is it BBD or CCD, if its CCD, then u can choose a face-centred design instead of rotatable or orthogonal design. This will make ur temperature to fall within the temperature obtainable in the MS.
I choose BBD because the range of the parameters will fall into what MS can set.
