"No nobel prize for X-ray" - what does this mean? Röntgen was the first who ever got a Nobel Prize in physics - for the detection of X-rays. "Legends don't win Nobel prizes." Was Einstein not a legend? He also won a Nobel prize. Here is an article explaining why Hawking never got a Nobel Prize: https://time.com/5198933/why-stephen-hawking-never-won-nobel/ . See also https://phys.org/news/2020-10-physics-nobel-black-holes-late.html for Hawking and the Nobel Prize. So, I disagree with your thesis.
My respectful reply to Wolfgang R. Dick saying the following, "Röntgen was the first who ever got a Nobel Prize in physics - for the detection of X-rays."
Ivan Puluj (Ukrainian) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Puluj discovered X-rays, used his X-ray tube, took pictures, taught his students, and then he told about it to Röntgen.
Wikipedia: "While Professor Puluj's finding were essentially X-rays, he did not recognise them as such at first, although he demonstrated X-ray pictures of a hand and fingers obtained by using his tube / lamp to his students. This credit later went on to Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen. Once Röntgen visited Professor Puluj's laboratory and the latter presented one of his tubes to Röntgen. Röntgen went home and in his laboratory started to conduct experiments with Puluj's tube."
After that, Röntgen took a similar X-ray picture. Röntgen took credits for this discovery.
It is interesting to read the following: "Five years after the discovery of the X-rays, the Nobel Prize committee honors Röntgen‘s achievement with the award of the Nobel Prize in Physics. The Swedish Academy of Sciences invites him to Stockholm for the ceremonial awards of the first Nobel prizes ever. On the 10th of December, Röntgen receives the diploma, the cash prize of 50,000 crowns and a gold medal from the hands of the Swedish Crown Prince, followed by a sumptuous dinner. The next morning however, Röntgen is already on his way back and leaves Stockholm without giving a speech like the other laureates."
Why did Röntgen depart ASAP after taking the money and medal? Was this the way he wanted to avoid potentially uncomfortable questions such as when and how "he" discovered X-rays? Or perhaps to avoid saying thank you to those Röntgen had used to come up with "his" discovery?
Why did Röntgen in his will wanted complete destruction of all his papers related to the work on X-rays? Was it done to conceal something?
When Albert Einstein found out about the history of the X-Rays, he told Ivan Pulyuy, “I don't have anything to comfort you, what has happened cannot be changed. Let the satisfaction that you put a piece into the epochal discovery stays with you. Is this not enough? But if we consider it rationally - there is a logic. Who is behind you, Rusyns — what culture, what actions? It’s unpleasant for you to listen to this ... And for Röntgen stands the whole of Europe”.

Quotes about Puluj (Wikipedia)
"World history has never been just to certain individuals or certain nations. Small nations and their achievements are often neglected while the accomplishments of large nations are at times exaggerated."
Slavko Bokshan, a Serbian scientist who worked in the same department as Puluj and Röntgen
Tesla reported that, driven by his observation of mysterious damage to photographic plates in his laboratory, he began his investigation of x-rays (at that time still unknown and unnamed) in 1894. Apart from experiments using the Crookes tube, he invented his own vacuum tube (Fig 2), which was a special unipolar x-ray bulb. It consisted of a single electrode that emitted electrons. There was no target electrode; therefore, electrons were accelerated by peaks of the electrical field produced by the high-voltage Tesla coil. Even then, Tesla realized that the source of x-rays was the site of the first impact of the “cathodic stream” within the bulb, which was either the anode in a bipolar tube or the glass wall in the unipolar tube he invented.
Nowadays, this form of radiation is known as Bremsstrahlung or braking radiation.
In the same article, he stated that the cathodic stream was composed of very small particles (i.e., electrons). His idea that the produced rays were minute particles wasn’t wrong at all; many years later, physicists described particle properties of electromagnetic radiation quanta called photons. To avoid heating and melting of the glass wall of his x-ray bulb, Tesla designed a cooling system based on a cold blast of air along the tube, as well as on today’s widely accepted oil bath surrounding the tube.
Tesla described some clinical benefits of x-rays—for example, determination of foreign body position and detection of lung diseases noting that denser bodies were more opaque to the rays.
...and again, speaking of the "less prestigious" origins...
Nikola Tesla (/ˈtɛslə/; Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Тесла;[2] pronounced [nǐkola têsla];[a] 10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian-American. Emigrated to the United States in 1884.
The winning of the Nobel Prize Nicholas Nechitailo is bound to be an university member of a very well working and experienced academic administration machinery, which prepares your insider nomination or entry into the selection system.
In economics, which is not an original Nobel Prize
Conclusion: political networks do matter, like with the Lenin Prize.
Gaining the overall respect of the scientific community is a very different subject. Here, we realize the long-term contribution of a scientist to the advancement of our discipline and not the temporary moment of an institutional research project.

The real University has no specific location. It owns no property, pays no salaries and receives no material dues. The real University is a state of mind. It is that great heritage of rational thought that has been brought down to us through the centuries and which does not exist at any specific location. It's a state of mind which is regenerated throughout the centuries by a body of people who traditionally carry the title of professor, but even that title is not part of the real University. The real University is nothing less than the continuing body of reason itself. In addition to this state of mind, 'reason,' there's a legal entity which is unfortunately called by the same name but which is quite another thing. This is a nonprofit corporation, a branch of the state with a specific address. It owns property, is capable of paying salaries, of receiving money and of responding to legislative pressures in the process. But this second university, the legal corporation, cannot teach, does not generate new knowledge or evaluate ideas. It is not the real University at all. It is just a church building, the setting, the location at which conditions have been made favorable for the real church to exist.
