Anyone knows what is the latest research around the legal & insurance aspects in areas such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Smart city and/or smart building. I would appreciate a list of research topics or industry concerns and some links to recent papers.

It is good to see some academic articles addressing this space. This topic has often attracted the attention of our masters students at Northumbria University for final dissertations. But they often could not find enough academic sources around the subject to start with.
There is a book by "Dougherty, J. M., 2015. Claims, Disputes and Litigation Involving BIM. Abington, UK: Routledge" for which I am writing a review in the next few weeks.

yes indeed, Claims, disputes and litigation involving BIM by Jason Dougherty critically discuss the impact of BIM on claims/disputes and whether new type of claims/disputes will evolve while implementing BIM.
(alwash et al. 2017) as referred to by Dr. Alfred discuss the misfit between the conventional contract instruments and BIM and that new contractual framework is needed to stipulate the multidisciplinary collaboration.
I am now working on a new research that will discuss the collaboration framework dimensions and their impact on BIM implementation. This research will be reviewed and discussed with Dr. Peter and Dr. Alfred prior to publish it.

My understanding there are several studies diagnosing the challenges/issues and proposing some thoughts, often using a qualitative approach. There is still very limited research (almost absent) offering some technological approaches/solutions to the problem. I assume this would come next, once the challenges/problems are well understood.
