I am using Kraft lignin, but when i do DSC analysis, it shows two peaks or melting points. MY question is: how can i purify this kraft lignin to get only one peak or melting point. Thank you
Some thoughts about routine uses of DSC after I search the web for Kraft Lignin. Melting points can be found or detected only from the crystalline materials, which is used to define amorphous from crystalline materials by the regulatory authorities.
Captivating indeed. DSC on lignin is observed for the first time here. Do you have the chemical formula for the lignin sample? The initial exothermic signal (at approximately 20 degrees Celsius, which is likely noise so you can ignore it) is uncertain. Nevertheless, the second exothermic signal (peaked at ~125C)—despite the minimal crosslinking caused by the extremely low enthalpy—appears to be indicative of curing.
