Let's do not accept any paper to review for free. There is no difference between our time and expertise as a scientist with medical doctors, lawyers, psychologists, and so on. The academic publishers huge profit comes from our free labor. If one publishes an article in a newspaper, he/she will get paid. But it is not the case in academic world. Publishers even charge us to print our own work. If you want to change the academic publishing, just say No.

I would love to agree with you. I've worked in the industry, I still work in the industry. In terms of for-profit publishers, sure, you can argue that they should pay for peer-review. But these same peer-reviewers rely on free publication of their articles in the same system. Who should pay for the publication? At the moment it is the subscribers/subscription fees from universities. In the open access model, it is the authors themselves.
