What are your enzyme and substrate? Sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and HCl are the commonest stop solutions for TMB. I've never had experience with HF as a stop solution. Also note that some substrates e.g. OPD substrate or ALP/NPP combination generate yellow colour not requiring stop solutions.
I suppose that you compare the OD before and after adding the stop solution for arrive to this conclusion. Be sure to select the correct wavelength in each case. For example, if you are using TMB as substrate it develops a soluble blue reaction product that may be read at 370 or 655 nm but when you add acid, the reaction turns to a yellow product that may be read at 450nm. Therefore, the correct wavelength selection is mandatory. As Gunay suggest, if you give more information someone could give you more help.
