India-Israel Joint Academic Research Program

1. The Israel Science Foundation (ISF) and the University Grant Council (UGC) of India are glad to announce the launching a new program of funding of joint research program, based on cooperation between Israeli and Indian academic researchers.
2. The aim of the program is to encourage research cooperation between Israeli and Indian scientists.
3. The program is funded by the Indian and Israeli governments through the two funding agencies. Each funding agency will finance the principal investigator of its country at a level of up to USD 300,000 for an experimental project, or up to USD 180,000 for a theoretical project for up to three years.
4. Eligibility for submission of proposals and for receiving funding will be based on the established policies of the two funding agencies (ISF, for Israel and UGC for India).
5. A joint proposal, in English, will be submitted by an Israeli researcher and his/her Indian collaborator to the ISF (www.isf.org.il) which will transmit an identical copy to the UGC.
The website will be open for submission from September 1st, 2013 till November 6th, 2013.
6. For the first round of submissions (2013/14), research proposals will be welcome in the following research areas: Exact Sciences (mathematics, theoretical chemistry, theoretical physics, theoretical computer sciences, computational biology) and Humanities (archaeology, arts, bible, history, languages & linguistics, literature, musicology, philosophy, theatre/cinema/TV, cultural studies, religious studies).
7. Detailed guidelines for submission will be published till July 23rd, 2013.
8. The evaluation process will be based exclusively on scientific merit.
9. Deadline for submission of proposals for the first round: November 6th, 2013.
