I believe there are many reasons for women to be engaged in and remain engaged in traditionally male professions to include law enforcement and the military. Over the last several decades, we have witnessed how the gender roles have redefined themselves. Within these professions while we still encounter gender bias there is real evidence of success in these fields to a degree far greater than imagined, three or four decades ago.

I very much agree with the answer posted by Leisa. The gender roles have dramatically changed over the last several decades, and with those gender role changes, I believe society has benefited. There is very little question that gender bias remains within the military and criminal justice systems, but as females continue to prove themselves in the various roles within these organizations the traditional barriers that have existed will continue to be broken.
.Great answer Ashley. I think you are right on target. Success in the workplace is one of the most important elements in breaking down traditional barriers and redefining roles within society
