I will start an experimental study in infarcted rats to evaluate the additional role of statins in myocardial protection. I think of studying two drugs: pitavastatin and rosuvastatin in various groups of rats: control, hypertensive, obese and diabetic, and think beyond the analysis of echocardiographic variables in assessing inflammatory markers and the renin-angiotensin system. Does anyone have any idea further so that we can develop the analysis of the role of statins in myocardial protection?
Its a worthwhile study. Both the statins planned for the study would be suitable in assessing the role of statins in myocardial protection.May be the investigators could perform the investigation in addition to rats also in Rabbits/ Guineapig.

Thanks for the comment. In our laboratory we have rats and mice. We will initially use the model in rats and using echocardiographic variables and biochemical markers.
Certainly you may initially use rats and mice model for the statin studies. it wouldbe useful.
